This award is for ARES members who have performed significant ARES appointed or elected duties, and/or been major supporters over the years, and should be recognized for their significant past leadership contributions by awarding them ARES Emeriti status.

Criteria include:

1. Retired from a full-time academic or industry position (they may still be working at other endeavors).
2. Does not currently hold an ARES Leadership position.
3. Been an ARES member in the past for a total of 10 years or more.
4. Held ARES leadership positions – officer, director, appointed position, editorial board, etc.
5. Been a substantial ARES contributor in the past – ARES leadership, published articles in ARES journals, premium membership of their organization, foundation Fellow contributor, etc.

Awardee will receive lifetime access to ARES electronic journals, registration fee paid for by ARES foundation for year of Emeriti award only, a blue ARES windbreaker, and recognition at the ARES Spring conference. The award shall be constrained to two awardees per year. This award does not include membership and awardees must be active members to vote. Self nominations are permitted. Award committee consists of the Immediate Past President, President, and President Elect of ARES along with and 3 ARES Foundation board members; ARES Board shall approve committee recommendations.

For 2026 spring meeting, nominees shall be due by Jan 15, 2026. Moving forward, nominations shall be due by Nov 1.
