Warning Description: Fire Weather Warning
Warning Date: 3:51 PM MST on February 20, 2009
WarningSum:...Red Flag Warning Remains In Effect Until 7 Pm Mst This
Evening...
Warning Message:A red flag warning remains in effect until 7 PM MST this evening.
This warning is for Teller...Fremont...El Paso...Pueblo...
Crowley...Otero...Huerfano...and Las Animas counties.
The combination of west to northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with
gusts of 35 mph up to 50 mph will continue across portions of east
central and southeast Colorado in the warning area late this
afternoon through early evening. The wind combined with humidity values of
15 percent or less...Haines around 5...and relatively dry fuels
will create erratic fire behavior. Across Teller and Fremont
counties...the greatest critical fire weather danger will be in
areas with no snow cover.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
