The Palmetto Amateur Radio Club in Florida has created a completely portable and self
contained tower trailer on not only providing space at the location with its 65 foot
tower, but they have the ability setup 2 additional 35 foot crank up towers that are
carried onboard.
According to Robert Broderick, WE4B of Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. The trailer is equipped with a primary tower that uses the trailer as it's base.
With the addition of a 10 Kw gasoline generator, the club can supply power once on
the trailer is deployed. Currently, they are looking to trade up to a 8Kw diesel
generator that would provide more power for a longer time in the event they are called
upon after a disaster.
The trailer was a donation from a club member that
considered could not longer use it sense it was rusted and not serviceable for hauling
boats. But with cutting touch, welder and a lot of hard work, they now have a
antenna platform any disaster services group in or out of Amateur radio would like to
have.
