The term fuel cell refers to an electrochemical device which
converts hydrogen and oxygen into usable electricity and generates heat and water as
byproducts of the conversion process. In many cases the waste heat from the fuel cell can
be utilized thus adding to the overall efficiency of the system. Given that the
exhaust stream of a fuel cell is water, the system is also very
environmentally friendly.
