To get you started, we have had a grant from
Wall-Mart, the Making a Difference Award for $500, we had another grant for $250 from our
county Farm Bureau insurance for $250. and they got the state Farm Bureau to kick in
another $250 . We got a grant from the local farmers Co-Op for $500 and another one from
Land-O-Lakes for 250.00 and I keep looking. Another page could be fund raising ideas that
have worked. One thing we do is www.pop.corn, you would
be AMAZED at the money in pop corn. We do pop corn for a local company's fun day and make
between $900, to $1,200 each year, in one day with ONLY pop corn ! Something else we do,
we built a very large gas fired BBQ and we fix 1/3 pound (5.33 OZ) 100 percent ground
steak burgers. We call our stand the BLACK ANGUS (in case you don't know, black Angus is a
type of beef and people say it is the best you can get ) we never said that is
what we use, that is only our name. I will start to cook them at 9;45 AM and cook as fast
as I can, making about 70 at a time and will cook till 10;30 at night I would be there
will 12;00 if I didn't stop! That day we will make over $1,500. Another good money
maker is snow cones and the trick is to find a place that will give you the FREE ICE
!!!!!We sell them for 50 cents most places are now at $1.00 for a snow cone. People around
here can not pay that much. We found another thing that makes a lot of money is ICE TEA
!!!!!, again get free ice.
When we sell popcorn, we sell a large cup for $1.00 and GIVE them a FREE refill. The
popcorn that goes in the refill is about 2 cents! Keeps them coming back. Some times we
till take a large bag and go down the street and refill on the spot, only our cups. People
with other popcorn will ask us to put some in their cup, we say, see that
cup, go get one of them and we will fill it. Oh I can tell you some stories about popcorn.
The things we sell are very easy to do, don't take that much equipment and MAKE MONEY. If
I had it to do all over again, when we bought our popcorn popper, I would get the LARGEST
GAS FIRED popper I could get my hands on!
If you sell popcorn, NEVER USE BAGS they are to hard to fill, take two hands and take to
much time !!! USE ONLYL CUPS1 WIth a cup, you can have one in each hand and fill two at a
time. If you would like more info about concessions, just ask me, we have many years
experience. Yes, we do have the required licenses for Iowa and Minnesota, they were not
hard to get, just some paper work. If you do this, we suggest you have the proper state
